Stayton – Susan was born in Concord, California and moved to Oregon where she graduated from Cascade High School. She married Donald Stegall in 1963. She worked as a Medical Transcriptionist for Oregon State Hospital and Fairview Training Center. She had a creative spirit and loved to paint, draw caricatures of people and animals/horses. She put her hand to writing stories. She loved to decorate her home and spend time bargain shopping. She had a deep faith in God. She will be missed by daughters; Shannon Stegall of Stayton, Ronda Bones of Aumsville, Siblings; Jeanette Boots of Tennessee, Diane Music of Salem, Robert Fowler of Salem, Phyllis Barney of Salem, Grandchildren; Shaina Felger, Jare Epps, Cody Lackner, Madalyn Bones, Amirah Patterson, Travis Bones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, sons; David Stegall and Vincent Stegall. Viewing will be Friday, May 18, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Weddle Funeral Chapel. Memorial will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Aumsville on May 21, 2012 at 4:00 P.M. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services.
August 14, 1935 – May 15, 2012
AUMSVILLE – Dave E. Parker passed away on Tuesday May 15th . He was 76 years old. The son of Alvin and Venna Parker. Dave was married to Nancy McLoney, they later separated. He had worked for Rawlinson Laundry in Salem, where he met Pamela Keele. They were married on Oct. 27, 1977 almost 35 years ago. They made their home in Aumsville and he had worked for 13 yrs as a carpet and vinyl installer before retiring in 2006. He was known to many as “Mr. Fix It”, he enjoyed fixing things as well as deep sea fishing and playing with his two Chihuahuas “Emily” and “Dolce”.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela; daughter, Catherine (David) Parmentier of Nampa, ID, son, Robert of CA; daughters, Holly (Hector) Bori of Florida, Denise Clark of Baker City, Karen Meschke of Utah, Kimberly Lane of Salem, Terri (Daniel) Mattel of Alabama; sister, Kaye Oveson of Vacaville, CA; brother, Giles (Judy) Parker of Coos Bay; numerous grand and great grandchildren.
Celebration of Life will be held at Weddle Funeral Chapel, Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 2:00 P.M.
MELVIN “VIRGIL” BALES, 84, of Lebanon, passed away on May 11th. He was born Jan. 14, 1928 in Kenwood, Oklahoma. The son of Marion and Mary Bales. Melvin”Virgil” moved to Oregon in 1944. He was married to Hazel Roberson on June 26, 1948 in Salem and in they made their home in Lebanon in 1974. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator for 40 years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, making knives and gardening.
In addition to his beloved wife, Hazel of Lebanon, he is survived by his daughter, Loretta Barrett ; son, Marvin Bales; daughter, Karen Bales; sister Velma Easling; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tues, May 15th from Noon – 7:00 pm and Funeral service on Wed. May 16th at 1:00 both at Weddle Funeral Chapel. Graveside will be at Lone Oak Cemetery, Stayton.

SHELIA MARIE FERRA
Jan. 4, 1957 – May 8, 2012
MARION – Shelia Marie Ferra, passed away on Tuesday May 8th at Salem. She was 55 years old. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona. The daughter of Oscar and Jewel Newton. Shelia enjoyed bead working and puzzles and spent a lot of time working in her yard, which she loved to do.
She is survived by her daughters, Tanya Thomas of Keizer and Subrina Thomas of Salem; her significant other, Gene Sparks of Marion; brothers, Mitchell of Gates, Terry of Turner, Paul and Matthew both of West Stayton, Roger of South Carolina, Ralph of Clatskanie, sisters, Janet of New Mexico and Sharon of Missouri; and 9 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday May 11th from Noon until 5 pm and Saturday May 12th from 9 am until Noon at Weddle Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will be Saturday May 12th at 1:00 pm at Lone Oak II Cemetery, Stayton.

PAUL F. LOHSE
Jan. 13, 1928 – May 7, 2012
AUMSVILLE – Paul F. Lohse, the “Kansas Kid”, 84, passed away on May 7th at Salem from prostate cancer. He was born in Washington County, Kansas. The son of Henry and Lizzy Lohse. Paul was the youngest of 9 children. He moved to Aumsville in 1935 and on Nov. 28, 1950 was married to Anna Mae Nichol. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Paul loved music and having started playing music at the age of 16 he played in every dance hall and grange he could. He spent many years playing at the VFW and Eagles lodge #2081 where he was a member. He played the guitar and was the lead singer with the 4 + 1 Orchestra along with his sons, Allen and Carl. He was an avid poet and wrote several books of poetry. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and the great outdoors where he worked on his property.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings and his wife, Anna in 1986. He retired after working for the clinics and State Hospital for 30 yrs. The family is grateful to the Salem Oncology and Hematology, and 5th floor nursing staff at Salem Hospital for all the care and support he and his family were given.
Paul is survived by his sons, Allen (Dianne) Lohse of Aumsville, Carl (Carol) Lohse of Stayton; daughter in law, Sharon Lohse of Keizer; grandchildren, Lisa ( Mark) Lohse-Miranda and Brandon Lohse; and great grandson, Dylan Lohse-Miranda.
Celebration of Life will be held on Sat. May 19th at 11:00 am at the Weddle Funeral Chapel. Private interment will be at the Aumsville Cemetery, Aumsville.

NAOMI N. POYNER
November 1, 1924 – May 6, 2012
MOLALLA – Naomi N. Poyner, died Sunday, May 6th at her home in Molalla. She was 87 years of age. She was the daughter of John and Cora Palmer.
Naomi grew up in upper Yachats Valley and attended school at Portland Adventist Academy. She enlisted in the US Marine Corps during WWII and served as a cook. She was married to WD Poyner on January 2, 1945 in Portland and they lived in Oregon before moving to Montana in 1959 and to Battleground, WA in 1969. She had worked as a licensed practical nurse at the Vancouver Memorial hospital before retiring at age 65. WD preceded her in death on April 4, 1993 and she spent the winters in Arizona for several years before moving to Molalla ten years ago.
Naomi was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed cooking and canning as well as gardening, hunting, crocheting and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teryl Henry; sisters, Mary Palmer, Sylvia McMichael, Lucille Brown; brothers, Orrin, Edgar and Kenneth Palmer.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane (Troy) Roberts of Salem, Rosemary Paresa of Puyallup, WA, Crystal Fierling of Molalla, OR; sons, John Poyner and Walter (Kristina) Poyner both of Castle Rock, WA; brothers, John Palmer of Vancouver, WA, Arthur Palmer of Brush Prairie, WA, Carl Palmer of Hermiston, OR, Eldon Palmer of Sun City, AZ; sisters, Cora Johnson of Granite Falls, WA, Esther Larson of Sun City, AZ, Ruth Elder of Anza, CA, Jewell Scherrer of Amity, OR; 10 grandchildren; 14 Great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 11th from 9:30 am – 10:30 am followed by the funeral service at 10:30 am at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Molalla. Graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:30 pm at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, WA
